Women's Swimming and Diving Defeat John Jay in Non-Conference Action

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (7-5) earned a non-conference victory on the road, defeating John Jay (1-7), 58-36, on Friday, Dec. 9.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Freshman Sarah Gomez (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) touched the wall first in the 200 IM (2:24.23), 100 free (58.80) and 500 free (6:29.28).
  • Senior Jillian Starace (Toms River/Toms River East) had two first-place finishes in the 200 free (2:31.81) and 100 fly (1:11.31).
  • Junior Samantha Pricken (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) was victorious in the 50 free (26.77) and the 100 back (1:05.16).
  • Junior Nicole Kahwaty (Lakke Hopatcong, N.J./Morris County Tech) won the first individual race of the night, finishing the 1,000 free with a time of 13:42.28.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Pricken's victories in the 50 free (26.77) and 100 back (1:05.16) were personal records.
  • Gomez shredded time off her personal bests in the 200 IM (2:24.23) and 100 free (58.80).
  • Senior Emily Murphy (Stockholm, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) posted two personal records in the 200 IM (2:42.87) and 100 fly (1:19.66).

  • William Paterson travel to Bronx, N.Y. on Tuesday, Jan. 10 for a 6:00 p.m. meet against Lehman.
