Men’s Soccer Falls Short to Ramapo in NJAC Semifinals, 2-1

WAYNE, N.J. – After a scoreless first half, The William Paterson men's soccer team (2-2-0, 2-2-0 NJAC) scored early in the second half but could not hold on to the lead for long as two quick goals by Ramapo (4-1-1, 4-1-1 NJAC) sunk the Pioneers as they fell short 2-1 in the NJAC semifinals on April 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • WP put the first goal on the board early in the second half at the 55:40 mark as senior forward Chris Fuentes (Red Bank, N.J./Red Bank Regional) was able to push the ball out of a scrum of players to freshman forward Daniel Ramm (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Twp. ) who tucked the ball into the lower right corner of the goal to give William Paterson the 1-0 advantage.
  • The Pioneers lead did not last long however as the Roadrunners quickly scored at the 59:17 mark to tie the contest and again at the 63:17 mark as they were able to sink a penalty shot which gave them the 2-1 lead and eventually the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Thomas Hatch (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) recorded 4 saves for WP.
