Field Hockey Begins ECAC Tournament Quest Wednesday at Widener

Third-Seeded Pioneers Face Second-Seeded Pride at 7:00 p.m.

DANBURY, CONN. -- Third-seeded William Paterson (8-8, 1-5 NJAC) will play at second-seeded Widener (14-5, 5-3 MAC Commonwealth) in the ECAC Field Hockey Tournament quarterfinals Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 7:00 p.m. for the right to advance to the semifinal round. 
 
HOW TO FOLLOW THE GAME  
WHERE  
WHAT'S AT STAKE
  • The WP/Widener winner will advance to the semifinals Saturday, Nov. 13, at 11:00 a.m. against the winner of the No. 1 Ramapo/No. 4 Sweet Briar quarterfinal.
  • In the other pod's quarterfinals Nov. 10, No. 1 Misericordia hosts No. 4 Marywood, and No. 2 FDU-Florham hosts No. 3 Cabrini. The two winners will square off in the semifinal round Nov. 13 at 2:00 p.m.
  • The championship game will be conducted Sunday, Nov. 14, at 12:00 p.m.
  • The same institution will host the entire weekend's slate of games. That host site will be determined following the conclusion of the quarterfinals.
 
WP IN THE ECAC TOURNAMENT
  • The Pioneers are making their ninth ECAC Tournament appearance (1993, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2021). WP advanced to the 1993 final.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
  • William Paterson is 8-8 overall and 1-5 in conference play this season.
  • A member of the 2020-21 and 2021 All-NJAC First Teams as well as the 2019 All-NJAC Honorable Mention, senior midfielder Megan Hoopes (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Twp.) has started all 16 games and owns five goals (three game winners) and a team-best nine assists. 
  • Junior back Gina Piscitelli (Oaklyn, N.J./Collingswood) earned a spot on the 2021 All-NJAC Honorable Mention with her four defensive saves and one assist in 16 starts.
  • Senior forward Abigail Viola (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe Twp.) paces the Pioneers with 10 goals and 23 assists. Senior forward Alicia Mitchell (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany Hills) has added seven goals and four assists.
  • Sophomore Emily Hoagland (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) has started nine of 13 appearances in goal, compiling a 2.99 goals-against average, .644 save percentage and 58 saves.
  • Freshman Kourtney Hartzel (York, Pa./West York Area) has started seven of eight games in the cage and has a 1.09 GAA, .647 save percentage and 11 saves.

SCOUTING THE PRIDE
  • Widener is 14-5 overall and 5-3 in league play after falling 7-3 to Messiah in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament final Nov. 6.
  • Senior midfielder Madi Radnoff has collected 17 goals and seven assists during 19 starts.
  • Senior midfielder/forward Erin Callahan has chipped in 11 goals and five assists for 27 points.
  • Freshman Kylie Haberstroh has played every minute in goal, accumulating a 1.19 goals-against average, .726 save percentage, 61 saves and nine shutouts.
