Sophomore Abigail Malandro finished first in the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 free

Women’s Swimming & Diving Sweeps in Tri-Meet Setting, Downing Maritime 63-37, and John Jay 76-23

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (4-1) swept its competition today as they downed Maritime (1-2) 63-37 and John Jay (1-4) 76-23 on Nov. 13.

TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Sophomore Abigail Malandro (Beach Haven, N.J./Southern Regional) continues to dominate the short distance freestyle competition this season, touching the wall first in the 50 free (26.42) 100 free (58.08), and 200 free (2:10.66).
  • Senior Taylor Friedman (South Amboy, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) earned her third win this season in the 200 IM with a time of 2:27.52, as well as a first-place finish in the 100 fly (1:04.97) and a second-place finish the 100 back (1:08.25).
  • Senior Megan Hoopes (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Twp.) impressed in her Pioneer swimming debut, finishing first in the 1000 free (13:24.84), second in the 500 free (6:28.80) and fourth in the 100 fly (1:10.76).
  • WP also saw first-place finishes from senior Leah Santonastaso (Newton, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) in the 500 free (6:25.96) and sophomore Nicole Kahwaty (Lakke Hopatcong, N.J./Morris County Tech) in the 100 breast (1:19.41).

UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson will host dual opponents Saturday, Dec. 4, at 1:00 p.m. as they host both Brooklyn and York (N.Y.)
