Women's Soccer To Face Alfred In ECAC Semifinals

Third seeded Pioneers set to face off with First seeded Alfred in the ECAC Semifinals

ECAC TOURNAMENT BRACKET

ALFRED, NY. -- Third-seeded William Paterson (8-8, 3-6 NJAC) will play first-seeded Alfred (11-5-4, 5-1-2 Empire 8) in the ECAC Women's Soccer Tournament semifinals Sunday, Nov. 14, at 12:00 p.m. at Alfred University.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
  • The WP/Alfred winner will advance to the championship on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 12:00 p.m. 
WP IN THE ECAC TOURNAMENT
  • WP defeated Mount Saint Mary 3-0 in the quaterfinals.
  • The Pioneers are making their ninth ECAC Tournament appearance (2000, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021). WP won the 2009 title.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
  • William Paterson is 9-8 overall and 3-6 in conference play this season. The Pioneers finished the regular season by winning three of their last four matches.
  • A member of the 2021 All-NJAC Second Team, sophomore forward Julia Fiorito (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) started 14 of 17 contests, scoring a team-best six goals. 
  • A starter in all 17 contests, senior back Megan Ponce (Clifton, N.J./Paramus Catholic) has three goals this season  as she secured second-team all-NJAC laurels.
  • Members of the All-NJAC Honorable Mention, senior forward Danielle LoBue tied for the team lead with three assists while starting all 15 appearances this fall, and senior back Kayla Miller (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) had three goals and an assist while starting all 17 matches this fall.
  • Senior midfielder Isabel Fernandez (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) paces WP with four goals and 11 points.
  • Graduate student Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) has started 16 times between the posts, recording a 1.33 goals-against average, .720 save percentage, 54 saves and four shutouts.

SCOUTING THE SAXONS
  • Alfred is 11-5-4 overall and 5-1-2 in league play. The Saxons took down Westminster College in the quarterfinals, 2-1.
  • Senior forward Abigail Austin leads the team with seven goals this fall.
  • Sophomore back Jacey Palmgreen has dished out a team-best 11 assists.
  • In net, junior goalkeeper Hannah Fuller has made 20 of 22 starts this season, posting 92 saves, five shutouts and posted a 1.26 goals against average
