Women's Swimming and Diving Falls Short at Ramapo Despite Individual Wins

The Pioneers Dropped 140-97 Decision

Sophomore Leah Santonastaso helped the Pioneers gain points in the 500 free.

MAHWAH, N.J. – The women's swimming and diving team (12-3, 1-3 NJAC) fell to Ramapo (4-5, 2-3 NJAC), 140-97, in a conference meet Jan 28.

TOP PERFORMERS:

Sophomore Megan Hoopes (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Twp.) touched first in the 100 free (59.80). She also notched two personal-best performances with second-place finishes in the 200 fly (2:29.88) and the 100 fly (1:06.14).
Taylor Friedman (South Amboy, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) placed first in the 200 back with a 2:27.59 pace. The sophomore also took home top points in the 200 IM (2:44.17).
Sophomore Leah Santonastaso (Newton, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) tallied a first-place finish in the 500 free with a time of 6:29.28.
WP collected top points in the 200 free relay with teamwork from Hoopes (28.04), freshman Jillian Starace (Toms River/Toms River East) (29.77), senior Anna Boyton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) (31.12) and Friedman (29.05). The quartet completed the race in 1:57.98.

UP NEXT:

WP welcomes The College of New Jersey on Saturday, Feb. 1, for a conference meet at 1:00 p.m. This is the last meet of the regular season before the Pioneers head to the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 21-23.
