ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (12-1, 1-1 NJAC) swam past Bard (1-5, 0-3 Liberty League), 96-83, Jan. 18 to notch their 12
th victory in a season for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign.
TOP PERFORMERS:
- Junior Iris Santos (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) was a double winner, touching first in the 50 free and 100 free. She recorded times of 28.11 and 1:00.57, respectively.
- Sophomore Megan Hoopes (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Twp.) also tallied a pair of victories by touching first in the 200 free (2:09.39) and the 500 free (5:50.42).
- Senior Anna Boyton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) posted a solid time in the 100 fly (1:08.73), which allowed the Pioneers to add to its individual wins against the Raptors.
- Sophomore Taylor Friedman (South Amboy, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) out-touched her competition in the 200 IM with a time of 2:29.01.
IN THE NUMBERS:
- Freshman Jillian Starace (Toms River/Toms River East) was close to beating her own personal best times in two of the three races she participated in. She completed the 100 fly in 1:09.49 for second place and the 100 back in 1:11.91 for third.
- This is the fifth time in WP history that the women's swimming and diving team has recorded 12 victories in a single season.
