PURCHASE, N.Y. – The William Paterson softball team (14-10) was swept by No. 16 Manhattanville (24-1), 5-0 and 8-0, April 10.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One

• Manhattanville used a hit by pitch, two singles, a walk and a wild pitch to gain a 3-0 edge in the home half of the first inning.
• The Valiants added an RBI-single in the second and a run-scoring double in the fifth to increase its advantage to 5-0.

Game Two

• An RBI-single and a three-run homer helped the Valiants open a 4-0 during its first at-bat.
• Manhattanville tacked on one run in the second, third, fourth and fifth frames for the 8-0 margin.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Game One

• Junior right-handed pitcher Alex Grubiak (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) was charged with five runs and a walk during her 6.0 innings in the circle (6-4).

Game Two

• Junior starter Andee Lupica (Maywood, N.J./Immaculate Conception) suffered the loss (2-2), allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits and two walks, striking out one in 2.2 innings of work.
