Women's Swimming and Diving Notches Fifth Straight Victory

Iris Santos and Ashley Lawler were Double Winners

Senior Mariah Jenkins contributed 12 individual points.

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (5-0) notched its fifth straight victory and celebrated Parents Appreciation Day in a 111-101 win against FDU-Florham (0-2) Nov. 2.

TOP PERFORMERS:

The meet began with a Pioneer victory in the 200 medley relay. Sophomore Taylor Friedman (South Amboy, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) (30.43), senior Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) (33.86), freshman Jillian Starace (Toms River/Toms River East) (28.42), and junior Iris Santos (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) (27.32) swam a season-best time of 2:00.03 to out-touch the Devils by almost four seconds.
Santos took first in a pair of races in the meet. She swam the 50 free in 27.48 followed by the 100 free in 1:00.43.
Senior diver Ashley Lawler (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) swept the diving events. She posted a score of 211.65 in the one-meter dive followed by a 214.57 score in the three-meter dive.
Jenkins out-touched the competition in the 100 breast (1:15.21) and touched third in the 50 free (29.18) to notch points for the Pioneers.
Friedman posted a first-place time in the 100 fly (1:05.17) and touched second in the 200 IM with her personal best (2:30.67).
Starace helped WP gain points with her top time of 2:15.98 in the 200 free to collect second place. She also contributed four points in the 100 fly (1:09.05).
