Women’s Soccer Starts NJAC Tournament Quest Saturday at Rowan

Fifth-Seeded Pioneers Face Fourth-Seeded Profs at 5:00 p.m.

PITMAN, N.J. – The fifth-seeded William Paterson women's soccer team (8-7-2, 4-4-1 NJAC) will begin its quest for a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament title when the Pioneers play in the first round Saturday, Nov. 2, at fourth-seeded Rowan (9-7-1, 4-4-1 NJAC) at 5:00 p.m. Live statistics and live video of the match will be available.
 
WHERE:
  • Rowan Soccer Complex; Cash-only ticket prices are $5.00 for adults: $2.00 for children, students and senior citizens. WP students with ID will be admitted for free.
 
WHAT'S ON THE LINE:
  • The advancing team moves on to the semifinal round Tuesday, Nov. 5, at top-seeded and fourth-ranked The College of New Jersey (14-1-1, 8-0-1 NJAC) at 6:30 p.m. The highest remaining seed will host the championship match Friday, Nov. 8, at a time to be determined.
 
WP IN THE NJAC TOURNAMENT:
  • WP is making its 12th appearance in the NJAC Tournament (1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2019), and the Pioneers are seeking their second conference title (1998).
 
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS:
  • William Paterson is coming off a 6-0 victory against Ramapo (4-10-2, 0-7-2 NJAC) Oct. 30, running its win streak to three contests.
  • Senior forward Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) paces the team in goals (12) and points (28). A three-time first-team all-conference selection, she was the 2018 NJAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year, the 2016 ECAC Metro Region Rookie of the Year and the 2016 NJAC Co-Rookie of the Year.
  • Senior midfielder Lorraine Moffitt (Paramus, N.J./Paramus), an honorable-mention all-NJAC pick a year ago, owns five goals and a team-best six assists.
  • Junior midfielder Danielle Dachowski (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury), the current NJAC Offensive Player of the Week, has tallied 13 points (5 g, 3 a), while three-time all-league selection Kristen Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) has collected five goals and an assist as a senior midfielder. Senior forward Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) owns four goals and four assists.
  • Junior Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) has compiled a 1.48 goals-against average, .750 save percentage and three shutouts while starting 14 matches in goal. 
 
SCOUTING THE PROFS:
  • Rowan is coming off a 3-0 loss at No. 4/4 The College of New Jersey (14-1-1, 8-0-1 NJAC) Oct. 30, snapping a two-game win streak.
  • Senior forward Daria Jones paces the Profs with 10 goals and 23 points, while junior forward/midfielder Aidan Sheehan has added six goals to her team-best five assists.
  • Junior midfielder Dominique Marrone owns 16 points (7 g, 2 a), and senior back Casey Lubonski has 10 (3 g, 4 a).
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Bristol Pizzuto owns a 0.99 goals-against average, .797 save percentage and one shutout in 15 starts.
 
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • After senior forward Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) gave WP a 1-0 edge in the third minute, host Rowan scored three unanswered goals for a 3-1 decision Sept. 21.
