Women’s Soccer Secures Postseason Bid, Rolls to 6-0 Senior Night Victory

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – Four of the Pioneers' six seniors figured into the scoring as the William Paterson women's soccer team (8-7-2, 4-4-1 NJAC) celebrated Senior Night Oct. 30 with a 6-0 victory against Ramapo (4-10-2, 0-7-2 NJAC), wrapping up a postseason bid in the process.

The fifth-seeded Pioneers will play at fourth-seeded Rowan in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament opening round Saturday, Nov. 2, at 5:00 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers struck just 59 seconds into the contest when senior forward Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) played a ball from the right end line that ricocheted off a defender to junior forward Daniella LoBue (Clifton, N.J./Clifton), who buried it to the near side of the frame for her first goal as a Pioneer.
  • WP made it 2-0 in the 30th minute when senior midfielder Kristen Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) launched a pass up the seam for classmate Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville), who beat the charging keeper to the ball, pulled it to the side and converted to the open net for her team-leading 12th goal of the season.
  • Seven minutes later Adelman passed from the right corner towards the middle of the six-yard box for Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls), who knocked it in for her fourth strike of the fall and a 3-0 edge.
  • Kristen Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) was taken down inside the box during the 52nd minute of play, setting up senior midfielder Lorraine Moffitt (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) for her fifth penalty kick goal of the year.
  • Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) picked up her second assist and fourth point of the night when she launched a ball across the frame toward a charging Abbey Kampmeyer (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City), and the freshman converted at the left post for her first career points and a 5-0 score at the 63:48 mark.
  • Junior midfielder Danielle Dachowski (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) slipped a pass through the defense for sophomore midfielder Samantha Persaud (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick), who pulled the keeper out and fired to the unoccupied frame to finish the scoring in the 74th minute.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) made three saves for her third shutout of the season.
  • Prior to the match, WP honored its six seniors: Adelman, Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls), Kristen Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls), Ashley Cozzi (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South), Moffitt and Emily Profaca (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Twp.).
