Women's Swimming and Diving Notches Fourth Straight Victory with 121-88 Decision at Maritime

A Victorious 200 Medley Relay Jump Starts the Pioneer Win

Senior Anna Boyton assisted the Pioneers with her times in the 200 medley relay and the 100 fly.

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (4-0) stretched its win streak to four following a 121-88 decision at Maritime (0-1) Oct. 29.

TOP PERFORMERS:

WP took home the first event of the meet, the 200 medley relay. Sophomore Taylor Friedman (South Amboy, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial), senior Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour), senior Anna Boyton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional), and freshman Jillian Starace (Toms River/Toms River East) posted a time of 2:08.56 to start the Pioneers off with nine points.
Junior diver Sara Haller (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) placed first in both diving events. She tallied a score of 210.16 in the one meter dive and a score of 200.15 in the three meter event.
Friedman placed first in the 200 IM (2:35.92). She later added another nine points to the Pioneer score by touching first in the 100 back with her fastest time of the season, 1:10.48.
Leah Santonastaso (Newton, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) posted a first-place time of 13:09.98 in the 1000 free.
Boyton out-touched her competitors by 13 seconds (1:09.46) in the 100 fly, recording a victory for the Pioneers.
Jenkins touched first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:17.78.

IN THE NUMBERS:

Starace improved her time in the 200 free. The freshman posted a personal best time of 2:21.73 for a second-place finish.

WP hosts FDU-Florham on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1:00 p.m. for its Parents Appreciation Meet.
