Twelve of 13 Events Secured by Women's Swimming and Diving, Pioneers Cruise by Bard, 96-49

Ashley Lawler, Casey Murphy, Quinn Reynolds and Iris Santos All Add Two Wins in the Victory

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Perfection was nearly had at Bard (0-7) Jan. 20, as the William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (11-1) won 12 of 13 events on the way to 96-49 triumph

The victory gives WP seven straight on the season and its best record through 12 meets since at least the 2001-02 campaign.

Leading the way for the Pioneers were four double winners, including sophomore diver Ashley Lawler (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional), juniors Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional), and Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) and freshman Iris Santos (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech). Lawler brought in 18 points for the William Paterson women, securing the one-meter (187.75) and three-meter (178.25) dives. Murphy bested the field in the 500 free (6:03.43) and 1,000 free (12:46.27), claiming her fifth and sixth individual wins in the last three meets. Reynolds was first to the wall in the 50 free (27.11) as well as the 100 back (1:05.27), and Santos garnered her wins in the 100 free (59.16) and 200 free (2:11.07).

Two single winners rounded out WP's stellar individual performances. Sophomore Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) claimed the fastest time in the 100 breast (1:19.00), while junior Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack) won the 100 fly (1:07.37), setting a personal best not only in that event but also in a second-place outcome in the 100 breast 1:20.52).

Pineda and Jenkins were also featured in WP's meet-opening win in the 200 medley relay (2:09.84), in which sophomore Janice Costa (Clifton, N.J./Bergen Arts and Science) and senior Katelyn Diva (North Haledon, N.J./Paramus Catholic) also contributed. Diva helped the Pioneers bookend the afternoon's races with a victory in the 200 free relay (1:51.19) alongside Murphy, Santos and Reynolds.

William Paterson puts the seven-meet winning streak on the line when it hosts Division II Queens (3-1) Tuesday Jan. 23, at 6:00 p.m. for the second-to-last home meet of the season.
