MADISON, N.J. – The William Paterson softball team (14-2) secured a 6-0, 3-2 sweep at Drew (6-12) March 31.

Game One
The Pioneers jumped out to an early 5-0 lead on their way to an opening 6-0 victory.

WP broke the ice with a pair of second-inning runs, as junior shortstop Kim Fryer (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg South) hit a two-out single up the middle, freshman designated player Jillian Bainbridge (Princeton, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) drew a walk and senior left fielder Kelsey Wimmershoff (Park Ridge, N.J./Park Ridge) launched a two-run double to left center.

Junior right fielder Nicole Fryer (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg South) reached first via an error to start the top of the third, sophomore center fielder Eleni Lutas (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock) put down a bunt single and sophomore second baseman Kaitlyn Poretti (Florence, N.J./Florence Memorial) followed with a sacrifice bunt. Freshman third baseman Karley Jo Greulich (Oakland, N.J./Indian Hills) doubled down the right-field line to drive in two runs, and a later error allowed her to touch home and make it a 5-0 margin.

Junior pitcher Allison Podmajersky (Red Bank, N.J./Middletown South) opened the fifth with a base hit to center and Kim Fryer had a bunt single before Bainbridge knocked an RBI-single into right field.

Kim Fryer was 2-for-4 and scored a run, while Wimmershoff and Greulich each contributed a two-run double.

WP scored the game's first three runs and held on for a 3-2 win in the night cap.

Greulich hit a leadoff infield single, advanced to second on a groundout and scored after a Kim Fryer base hit down the left-field line, making it a 1-0 score during the top of the second inning.
