RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Second-seeded William Paterson (14-6-1) was eliminated by top-seeded NYU (12-3-5), 2-0, in the ECAC Women's Soccer Tournament quarterfinal round Nov. 13 at Gaelic Park.
 
Freshman midfielder Maddie Howard gave the Violets an early lead when she knocked in her own rebound off the post at the 2:12 mark.
 
NYU made it a 2-0 margin in the 67th minute. Junior forward Marquel Love beat a defender and got the ball to freshman forward Alex Benedict, who finished for her seventh goal of the season.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Angela Sandelli (Landing, N.J./Roxbury) posted four saves for WP, and senior Cassie Steinberg collected two stops for NYU.
