Men’s Soccer to Play at Lebanon Valley in ECAC Tournament Semifinals Saturday

Pioneers, Dutchmen to Compete for Spot in Final

Tournament Notes 

DANBURY, CONN. – William Paterson (9-8-4, 3-6 NJAC) will face host Lebanon Valley (16-4, 6-2 MAC Commonwealth) in the ECAC Men's Soccer Tournament semifinals Saturday, Nov. 19, at 2:00 p.m. Live statistics and video will be available.
 
In the other semifinal, Drew (12-5-3, 4-1-2 Landmark) will take on Penn State Harrisburg (13-8, 5-4 Capital) at 11:00 a.m. The winners will advance to the championship match Sunday, Nov. 20, at 12:00 p.m. at Lebanon Valley.
 
The second-seeded Pioneers advanced out of Region 3 after a 2-1 victory against fourth-seeded Staten Island (12-8-2) in the quarterfinal round Nov. 13 at Ramapo College. WP triumphed on penalty kicks, 3-1, after a 0-0 double-overtime draw against third-seeded Moravian (8-4-5, 2-2-3 Landmark) Nov. 12 in the first round.
 
Four Pioneers were honorable-mention all-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) selections. Freshman midfielder/back Keysean Brant-Sharp (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) paces WP with seven goals and 14 points, starting 18 times in 19 matches played, while junior midfielder JP Gonzales (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) owns 11 points (4 g, 3 a) in 20 starts. Freshman midfielder Darwin Cruz (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) has collected three goals while starting 12 of 17 appearances, and sophomore back Zach Perez (Edison, N.J./Rutgers Prep) has one goal and an assist while starting all 20 matches, helping the WP defense register nine shutouts.
 
Freshman Kyle Quigley (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) has posted a 1.57 goals-against average, .722 save percentage and seven shutouts while starting all 20 contests.
 
William Paterson is making its 14th ECAC Tournament appearance (1972, 1974, 1977, 1978, 1981, 1984, 1991, 1995, 2002, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016), and is seeking its second title (2008).
 
WP was 6-9-2 overall and 2-6-1 in conference play a year ago.
