Women’s Soccer to Open NJAC Tournament Saturday at Montclair State

Sixth-Seeded Pioneers, Third-Seeded Red Hawks to Meet at 1:00 p.m.

PITMAN, N.J. – Sixth-seeded William Paterson (13-4-1, 5-4 NJAC) will play at third-seeded Montclair State (14-3-1, 7-2 NJAC) in the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women's Soccer Tournament Saturday, Oct. 29, at 1:00 p.m. Live statistics will be available.
 
Ticket prices are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children, students and senior citizens. WP students with ID will be admitted for free.
 
The WP/MSU winner will play at second-seeded No. 10/9 Rowan (15-1-1, 7-1-1 NJAC) in the semifinal round Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7:00 p.m.
 
In the other first-round match, fourth-seeded Stockton (12-6-2, 5-3-1 NJAC) will host fifth-seeded Kean (11-7, 5-4 NJAC) Oct. 29 at 3:00 p.m. The winner will compete at top-seeded No. 5/6 The College of New Jersey (15-0-1, 9-0 NJAC) Nov. 2 at 5:00 p.m. The highest remaining seed will host the championship match Saturday, Nov. 5, at a time to be determined.
 
The Pioneers are coming off a 3-1 victory at Rutgers-Newark (1-14-2, 0-9) Oct. 26, extending their win streak to four matches. Earlier this season, WP dropped a 3-1 decision at Montclair State (Oct. 12).
 
Freshman forward Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) leads WP with 18 goals and 40 points, while freshman midfielder Kristen Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) owns seven goals and five assists for 19 points. Freshman forward Carla LaRocca (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) ranks third with 12 points (5 g, 2 a).

Sophomore goalkeeper Angela Sandelli (Landing, N.J./Roxbury) has compiled a 1.41 goals-against average, .741 save percentage and four shutouts while starting 16 times.
 
William Paterson is making its 11th NJAC Tournament appearance (1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012), and is seeking its second conference title (1998).
 
WP was 4-9-4 overall and 1-5-3 in conference play a year ago.
