Field Hockey to Face No. 2 TCNJ Wednesday in NJAC Tournament Semifinals

Pioneers, Lions to Play in Ewing

PITMAN, N.J. – Fourth-seeded William Paterson (10-7, 3-3 NJAC) will play at top-seeded and second-ranked The College of New Jersey (16-1, 6-0 NJAC) in the semifinals of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. Live statistics will be available.
 
Ticket prices are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children, students and senior citizens. WP students with ID will be admitted for free.
 
In the other semifinal, second-seeded and 19th-ranked Rowan (13-5, 5-1 NJAC) will host third-seeded and 10th-ranked Montclair State (15-4, 4-2 NJAC) Nov. 4 at 7:00 p.m. The semifinal winners will advance to the championship game Saturday, Nov. 7, at the site of the higher-seeded team at a time to be determined.
 
The Pioneers are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss against Rowan Oct. 31. Earlier this season, WP fell to No. 2 TCNJ, 3-0, on Oct. 24 in Wayne.
 
Senior forward Angelica Giammetta (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) leads the Pioneers with nine goals and 20 points, while senior midfielder Felicia Wetzel (Point Pleasant, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) has posted 15 points (5 g, 5 a). Sophomore forward Carly Satter (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) has collected four goals and five assists for 13 points.
 
Senior goalie Meg Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) owns a 1.61 goals-against average, .764 save percentage and three shutouts while starting all 17 games in the cage. Junior midfielder Meghin Stanton (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional), the Oct. 19 NJAC Defensive Player of the Week, has added six defensive saves.
 
William Paterson is making its fifth NJAC Tournament appearance (1973, 1975, 1977, 2012, 2015), and has qualified for postseason play seven times under the direction of 12th-year coach Lindsay Balfour.
 
WP was 7-11 overall and 1-5 in conference play a year ago.
