Box Score PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – Goals by freshman
Celine-Ann Samaniego (Maywood, N.J./Bergen Tech) and senior
Alana Keffer (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) helped boost the William Paterson women's soccer team (0-1-2) to a 2-2, double-overtime draw at St. Joseph's-Long Island (0-2-1) Sept. 3.
Claire Brady handed the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute, but Samaniego leveled the score seven minutes later when she converted
Elena Grady's (Washington Twp., N.J./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) pass for her first career points.
St. Joseph's-Long Island again built a one-goal edge, using a Joann Murino unassisted strike at the 77:39 mark. But, when the Eagles' keeper later couldn't secure the ball, Keffer forced the extra session when she took advantage of the miscue with 4:23 remaining in regulation.
Junior
Kat Clint (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) made five saves for the Pioneers and Katie McGarrell had seven for SJ-LI.
William Paterson will open its home slate Wednesday, Sept. 10, against Centenary at 7:00 p.m.
