Katie Stetser (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) and senior midfielder
Courtnaey Chelf (Blackwood, N.J./Triton Regional) each had four points as William Paterson (4-4) rolled to a 5-1 field hockey victory against Western Connecticut (4-4) Sept. 24.
Chelf started the scoring in the ninth minute, blasting a penalty-corner pass from junior forward
Felicia Wetzel (Point Pleasant, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional).
Two minutes later, Chelf sent a ball across the circle to Stetser at the left post, and she finished for her third goal of the year.
Sophomore midfielder
Meghin Stanton (Chesterfield, N.J./North Burlington Regional) converted a penalty stroke at the 26:55 mark for her first career goal and a 3-0 lead.
Junior midfielder
Mollie Kearns (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional) got in on the action with a quick strike, knocking in junior midfielder
McKenna Reynolds' (Delran, N.J./Delran) pass in the 28th minute.
Stetser scored her second goal of the night after Chelf passed from right side of the endline and she scored at the right post at the 57:06 mark.
The Colonials spoiled the shutout with 59 seconds remaining, as Tatum Seaver finished at the left post a Kristy Matasavage penalty-corner pass.
Junior
Meg Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) made three saves as the Pioneers' starter, and freshman
Courtney Ross (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) had three stops in 18:48. Sophomore Kristy Trotta made five saves in 61:09, and junior Kaeley DeNegre didn't need to make a stop during the final 8:51 for WestConn.
William Paterson will visit Rowan Saturday, Sept. 27, at 3:00 p.m.
