Box Score Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – Junior midfielder McKenna Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) scored twice, including the game winner in double overtime, as William Paterson (3-3) defeated visiting Drew (0-6) by a 3-2 count Sept. 17.

Junior forward Angelica Giammetta (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) got the scoring started in the 11th minute off an assist from freshman Katie Stetser (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West), cleaning up a ball that trickled through goalie Sarah Stewart.

That margin held up until the 44:24 mark, when sophomore Huma Sheikh knocked in a bouncing ball at the left post, but Reynolds got the goal right back 44 seconds later when she was able to pull Stewart out to the right and then hit a tough shot on a tight angle back across the cage.

Junior Bea Cannavale leveled the score in the 53rd minute, finishing a rebound off the post. The Pioneers nearly had the game winner with nine minutes remaining in regulation, but three Ranger defensive saves kept it a 2-2 score.

WP was awarded a penalty corner early in the second overtime, and twice Ranger defenders left too early and were sent away to midfield. That left Stewart and one Drew defender to attempt to fend off the corner, and the Pioneers took advantage of the opportunity. Junior forward Felicia Wetzel (Point Pleasant, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) sent a pass across the circle to a waiting Reynolds at the left post, and she knocked it into the back of the cage for the game winner at the 88:18 mark.

Junior Meg Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) made six saves for the Pioneers, and Stewart had three stops for Drew.

William Paterson will start conference play Saturday, Sept. 20, at Richard Stockton at 1:00 p.m.
