Women’s Soccer Suffers Loss at Stevenson

Pioneers Drop 7-2 Decision

Box Score OWINGS MILLS, MD. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (0-1-1) suffered a 7-2 loss at Stevenson (1-0) Aug. 30.
 
Alexis Siejack broke through twice in the first 13 minutes to hand the Mustangs an early 2-0 lead, but junior Gina Cowdrick (Island Heights, N.J./Central Regional) got on the end of a corner kick to pull the Pioneers within one in the 20th minute.
 
Goals by Isabella Ekeze and Kellen Wittman made it a 4-1 score before halftime, and Meaghan Williams, Ekeze and Williams again added three more to the Mustang total by the 52nd minute.
 
Freshman Rachel Rivell (Mickleton, N.J./Kingsway) earned her first career points at the 79:49 mark, knocking the ball in from 10 yards out after senior Julia Siersema (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Borough) headed through a pass.
 
Junior Kat Clint (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) made seven saves during the first 76:03 for the Pioneers, and freshman Liz Murzyn (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) finished off the contest between the posts. Stevenson's Stephanie Ehly and Katelynn Giannacini combined for four stops.
 
William Paterson will compete at St. Joseph's-Long Island Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 7:00 p.m.
