WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (6-4) was defeated by Division II Adelphi (2-1), 127-104, Dec. 13 at Wightman Pool.
Sophomore Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) captured two victories for the Pioneers, winning the 200 IM (2:18.13) and the 100 breast (1:09.90).
Sophomore Courtney Lawler (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) also bagged two wins for WP, claiming the highest score in the one-meter (215.85) and the three-meter (220.20) dives.
Sophomore Christine Gustafson (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) added a victory, touching first in the 100 fly (1:04.72).
The Pioneers' 200 medley relay team comprised of Blazevska, Gustafson, senior Sheri Brino (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) and junior Brittany English (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) swam their fastest time of the year in a 1:59.52, finishing in second place by one-tenth of a second.
The Pioneers will head to San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jan. 2, for their winter training trip.
