Box Score RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Fifth-seeded William Paterson (9-8-3) played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw at fourth-seeded NYU (11-6-1) in the first round of the ECAC Men's Soccer Metro/Upstate Tournament Nov. 12, but the Violets advanced to the semifinal round on penalty kicks, 4-3.
Both teams were perfect through the first three rounds of PKs, but NYU's Reece Barton started the fourth round with a miss high. However, Violet keeper Lucas Douchette came up with a save to his left of
Sebastian Siclari's (North Haldeon, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) attempt to keep it even at 3-3. Mickey Ingerman scored for a 4-3 NYU lead, and senior midfielder
Omar Jallow (Union City, N.J./Union City) was unable to force another round as his kick hit the left post.
The Pioneers dominated the offensive chances, 25-11, including a 7-3 shot advantage in overtime. WP's best chances came during the first extra session with a blast off the crossbar as well as three Violet saves.
Sophomore keeper
Mike Diacheysn (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) made five saves for WP, and Douchette's 11 stops were aided by two team saves for NYU.
