Box Score GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – William Paterson (4-6) jumped out to an early lead but couldn't hold off host Gwynedd Mercy (6-3), 2-1 in field hockey action, Oct. 1.
 
Sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Kerr (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) struck quickly, converting a pass from junior forward Felicia Wetzel (Point Pleasant, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) just 3:32 into the contest.
 
The Griffins leveled the score 2:10 before halftime when Stephanie Bacho deflected in a pass off the stick of Brittany Wilson. Gwynedd Mercy took the lead at the 64:39 mark when Abigail Gabriel scored off an assist from Melissa Russo.
 
Junior Meg Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) made nine saves and sophomore midfielder Meghin Stanton (Chesterfield, N.J./North Burlington Regional) had a defensive save for WP. Kelly Kruk finished with eight stops for the Griffins.
 
William Paterson will host No. 11 Montclair State Friday, Oct. 3, at 7:00 p.m.
