WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (1-1) got three goals from three different players during the first half, registering a 3-0 victory against St. Joseph's-Long Island (2-0) Sept. 4 in the Pioneers' home opener.
Freshman
Alexandra Hay (Whiting, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) got WP on the scoreboard, collecting her first collegiate goal when she headed in a cross from senior forward
Sheray Anthony (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) in the 10th minute. Four minutes later, Anthony was fouled in the box and junior back
Jessica Skowronski (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) converted the penalty kick for a 2-0 advantage.
Sophomore
Jackie Gage (Tinton Falls, N.J./Monmouth Regional) tacked on another goal 2:07 before halftime, picking up a pass from freshman
Sidney Gabrich (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) on the right side of the box and blasting it to the opposite corner.
Senior
Alyssa Falduto (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) did not need to make a save for the Pioneers, but was helped by one of her defenders with a team save on the left post late in the match. Sophomore Cristina Votta had four stops for the Golden Eagles.
William Paterson will face St. Mary's in the first round of the Stevenson Tournament Saturday, Sept. 7, at 4:00 p.m.
