Box Score MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team (4-5, 0-2 NJAC) suffered a 6-0 loss at No. 1 Montclair State (9-0, 2-0 NJAC) Sept. 25.
The Red Hawks' Stephanie Lewis cleaned up a rebound for a 1-0 advantage 8:08 into the contest, and Abby Erler knocked in a ball from the top of the circle, converting a Lewis pass to make it 2-0 in the 12th minute.
Jennifer Tafro started the second half by lifting in Lewis' pass (3-0, 41:18), and Brooke Hullings made it 4-0 when she blasted a ball in from nine yards out during the 44th minute. Lewis knocked in a rebound for her second goal of the night and a 5-0 edge at the 51:25 mark, and Tafro finished the scoring six minutes later with her shot from eight yards out on the left side.
Senior
Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) made a season-best 18 saves for the Pioneers, and Rebecca Brattole did not make a stop for MSU.
William Paterson will host Gwynedd-Mercy Sunday, Sept. 29, at 5:00 p.m.
