WAYNE, N.J. – A goal in the 72nd minute was the difference as the William Paterson women's soccer team (3-3-2) dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting Mount Saint Mary (4-3) Sept. 23.

The Pioneers' best opportunity came at the end of the first half when Gina Cowdrick (Island Heights, N.J./Central Regional) let a shot fly from distance, but it hit the crossbar as time expired.

The Knights' Shanice Robe missed an open net, sending the ball wide of the right post with 21 minutes remaining, but she made up for it at the 71:20 mark. She worked to find a sliver of open ground on the right side of the six and delivered a shot that spun off the post and into the left side netting.

Senior Alyssa Falduto (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) had six saves for WP, and Jacquelyn Mancini did not need to make a stop for MSMC.

William Paterson will host No. 25 Montclair State Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 7:00 p.m.
