Box Score BETHLEHEM, PA. – Senior forward
Brianne Cox (Browns Mills, N.J./Pemberton Twp.) scored during the second overtime period, lifting the William Paterson field hockey team (4-1) to a 2-1 victory at Moravian (3-2) Sept. 14.
Following a scoreless first half, senior forward
Jessica Nendze (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) deflected in a long shot by junior midfielder
Courtnaey Chelf (Blackwood, N.J./Triton Regional) at the 48:30 mark. Moravian's Rebecca Hamel evened the contest with a penalty stroke during the 58th minute, and neither team could find the back of the cage again during regulation.
Cox scored the game winner 5:01 into the second overtime, knocking a ball out of the air off a pass from Nendze.
Senior
Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) had eight saves for the Pioneers, and Chelf added a defensive save. Andrea Eck posted 10 saves for Moravian.
William Paterson will begin New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Kean at 7:30 p.m.
