Women’s Swimming & Diving Improves to 6-1

Pioneers Defeat Staten Island 114-98

Sophomore Brittany English was a double winner for the Pioneers.
WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming & diving team (6-1) earned a 114-98 victory against visiting Staten Island (4-2) Nov. 20.

The Pioneers had three double winners. Freshman Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) touched first in the 100 breast (1:12.73) and the 200 IM (2:24.69).

Sophomore Brittany English (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) took first in the 100 (59.62) and 200 (2:12.04) frees, and junior Sheri Brino (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) posted winning times of 1:09.27 in the 100 back and 27.63 in the 50 free.

Sophomore Gabrielle Porcaro (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) won the 1,000 free (12:21.23), and senior Kathryn Burke (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) touched first in the 100 fly (1:05.37).

Freshman Courtney Lawler (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) recorded a score of 196.20 to win the one-meter dive.

William Paterson will travel to St. Joseph's-Long Island on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 3:00 p.m.
