WAYNE, N.J. – Two second-half goals were the difference as William Paterson (10-9, 2-4 NJAC) suffered a 4-2 loss to visiting Rowan (11-6, 4-2 NJAC) on Senior Day Nov. 2 in the field hockey regular-season finale for both teams.

Senior Jacqui Giammetta (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) didn't wait long to break the scoreless deadlock, cleaning up a loose ball in front of goal 2:47 into the contest for her eighth score of the season.

Despite both teams having opportunities, things remained relatively quiet for the next 24 minutes until three goals were scored during a 94-second span. Sophomore Marisa Marini sent a pass to freshman Jenna Pressler, who found the back of the cage with a quick shot to the middle, tying the score with 5:51 to play in the first half. Senior forward Jessica Nendze (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) put WP back ahead when she cleaned up her own rebound with 5:01 on the clock, but that advantage lasted just 44 seconds as senior Amy McKeever converted a Kellie Campbell pass off a penalty corner, making it a 2-2 contest.

Rowan took its first lead of the game in the 49th minute when sophomore Sam Browne received a pass from the center of the circle to the left post, then popped the ball into the netting. She added an insurance goal in the 58th minute, driving a shot from the left side of the circle into the right sideboard of the cage.

Senior Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) had 10 saves for the Pioneers and freshman Meghin Stanton (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) contributed a defensive save. Senior Steph Colombo made nine stops for the Profs and was aided by a Emily Bucher defensive save.

Prior to the game, William Paterson honored its five seniors -- Brianne Cox (Browns Mills, N.J./Pemberton Twp.), Giammetta, Annalis Mitcho (Glassboro, N.J./Gloucester County Institute of Technology), Nendze and Statz.
