WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team (6-6, 0-3 NJAC) suffered a 7-2 loss at the hands of No. 9 The College of New Jersey (9-1, 3-0 NJAC) Oct. 4.

Junior Lindsey Hatch scored 6:02 into the contest, possessing the ball on the left side of the circle, cutting back to the center of the field and striking it into the left side of the cage. Junior Erin Healy doubled that advantage 11 minutes when she began to stumble inside the circle and quickly let a shot fly that again found the left side of the goal.

Hatch collected her second goal of the night, stuffing in junior Victoria Martin's long drive off a penalty corner during the 23rd minute.

The Pioneers got one of those goals back at the 32:54 mark when sophomore Felicia Wetzel (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) sent a long ball from the right side across the field and classmate McKenna Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) popped it over TCNJ goalie Amanda Krause.

Hatch finished off a hat trick with a hard-hit ball from the center of the circle less than four minutes into the second half.

Senior forward Brianne Cox (Browns Mills, N.J./Pemberton Twp.) collected her league-leading 12th goal of the season after Wetzel sent a long pass through the circle from the right side and Cox fought off a Lion defender and Krause to knock it into the cage during the 50th minute of play.

Hatch tipped in Jaclyn Douglas' pass off a penalty corner, her fourth goal of the evening, at the 55:31 mark, assisted on freshman Danielle Andreula's penalty corner goal four minutes later, and knocked in Healy's pass with 5:23 remaining to finish the scoring with her fifth goal.

Senior Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) finished with 11 saves and senior Annalis Mitcho (Glassboro, N.J./Gloucester County Institute of Technology) had a defensive save for WP, while Krause had five stops for TCNJ.

William Paterson will host Misericordia Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7:00 p.m.
