Field Hockey Falls in Overtime, 3-2

Cox, Giammetta Score for Pioneers

Junior Courtnaey Chelf provided an assist and a defensive save at Arcadia.
Box Score GLENSIDE, PA. – For the fifth time this season, the William Paterson field hockey team (9-8) needed extra time to determine a winner, but this time came out on the short end of a 3-2 decision at Arcadia (12-5) Oct. 26.

Junior Katrina Dull got Arcadia on the board in the 30th minute off a penalty corner for her sixth goal of the season. She started the play and then put home a pass from senior Ashley Ditchey.

Senior forward Brianne Cox (Browns Mills, N.J./Pemberton Twp.) tied the game 2:34 into the second half when she tipped in a shot by freshman Courtney Allen (Woodbine, N.J./Ocean City), but sophomore Taylor Dalisera quickly answered for Arcadia with her blast from the top of the circle 3:11 later, handing the Knights a 2-1 lead.

William Paterson rallied to tie the game again in the 50th minute when sophomore Angelica Giammetta (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) deflected a junior Courtnaey Chelf (Blackwood, N.J./Triton Regional) shot into the cage. Arcadia had a chance to secure the win with 1:23 left in regulation, but could not convert on a penalty stroke.

The Knights were awarded a penalty corner just 30 seconds into overtime. Dalisera's shot was stopped by Chelf's defensive save, but the rebound went to junior Molly Goldstein, who fed the ball to Dull for the game winner.

Senior Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) finished with six saves for WP, while Brittany Hodson had five stops for Arcadia.

William Paterson will visit Western Connecticut Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7:00 p.m.
