WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming & diving team (1-0) defeated visiting Baruch (0-1), 124-109, in its season opener, Oct. 23.
Sophomore
Gabrielle Porcaro (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) was a double winner for the Pioneers, placing first in the 500 (6:03.22) and 1,000 (12:32.17) frees. Senior
Kathryn Burke (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) finished first in the 100 fly (1:06.34).
The 200 medley relay team of Burke, junior
Sheri Brino (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional), sophomore
Brittany English (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) and freshman
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) recorded a winning time of 1:59.92.
Freshman
Courtney Lawler (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) took first in the one-meter dive (190.5), and senior
Katie Jeon (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) won the three-meter dive (178.66).
Blazevska touched second in the 200 IM (2:24.72) and the 100 breast (1:12.39).
William Paterson will travel to FDU-Florham on Sunday, October 27, at 12:00 p.m.
