WAYNE, N.J. – Senior back Nicole Sullivan (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) scored twice as William Paterson (5-9-2) rolled to a 5-1 women's soccer victory against visiting Vassar (6-7-2) Oct. 23.

A foul in the box by a Brewer defender handed the Pioneers a penalty kick that Sullivan buried to the lower-left corner in the ninth minute.

A bad clearance by a Vassar defender spun backwards and into the net, an own goal that made it a 2-0 margin 11 minutes later.

Sullivan struck again in the 34th minute on another set piece, driving a ball over the wall and tucking it just under the crossbar, a gorgeous free kick from 23 yards out for her third goal of the season.

The Brewers got on the scoreboard 99 seconds into the second half when junior Chloe Wheeler took advantage of senior goalkeeper Alyssa Falduto (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) being out of the goal, finishing to the far post.

Sophomore midfielder Jackie Gage (Tinton Falls, N.J./Monmouth Regional) extended WP's lead to 4-1 at the 49:05 mark when she intercepted a pass and drilled a ball from the right flank into the left side netting.

Freshman midfielder Alexandra Hay (Whiting, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) finished the scoring in the 78th minute, getting on the end of a bouncing ball along the goal line that was flicked by junior Julia Siersema (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Borough).

Falduto had six saves for the Pioneers and freshman Stephanie Tapolsky made four stops for Vassar.

William Paterson will celebrate Senior Night Saturday, Oct. 26, against Rutgers-Newark at 6:00 p.m.
