WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team (9-7, 2-3 NJAC) suffered a 3-0 loss to visiting Stevens (11-5), Oct. 23.
In the 18th minute, Marguerite Chavez inserted a corner to Grace Ridge who blasted a shot from the 10-yard line on the left side into the back of the cage to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead.
Dailyn Brook added to Stevens' lead at the 24:03 mark when she found a ball that went off the goalie's foot and tapped it into the left side.
Ridge scored her second goal of the game in the 31st minute when she sent an inserted corner from Chavez into middle of the cage to give the Ducks a 3-0 advantage.
The Pioneers outshot Stevens 4-1 and earned seven corners in the second half, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.
Senior
Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) stopped two shots and senior midfielder
Annalis Mitcho (Glassboro, N.J./Gloucester County Institute of Technology) recorded a defensive save for WP. Emily Stukenborg made two stops for the Ducks.
William Paterson will travel to Arcadia Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1:00 p.m.
