WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (7-6-2, 2-4-1 NJAC) suffered a 3-1 loss against No. 8 Rutgers-Camden (14-0-2, 5-0-2 NJAC), Oct. 19.
The Scarlet Raptors got on the board in the 20th minute when Mike Ryan found a pass from Keegan Balle and beat the goalkeeper as he came out of the net with a shot to the right corner to give Rutgers-Camden a 1-0 lead.
At the 34:01 mark, Balle brought the score to 2-0 after breaking away and sending a shot to the bottom left corner of the net.
Senior midfielder
Matt Nigro (Morganville, N.J./Marlboro) found a pass from junior midfielder
Omar Jallow (Union City, N.J./Union City) and blasted a shot to the bottom left corner in the 62nd minute to cut the lead to 2-1.
Rutgers-Camden struck back three minutes later when Stevan Austino sent a long pass to Ryan who beat the defenders up the middle and fired a shot into the bottom right corner to extend the Scarlet Raptors' lead to 3-1.
Freshman
Mike Diacheysn (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) made four saves for the Pioneers, while Mike Randall stopped seven shots for Rutgers-Camden.
William Paterson will travel to Rutgers-Newark on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1:00 p.m.
