PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (0-1-2) played to its second draw of the season, tying St. Joseph's-Long Island (1-1-1) 2-2 after double overtime Sept. 5.
WP started the scoring when
Taylor Zabicki (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) scored off a
Laela Brock (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) corner kick in the 15th minute.
Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) added to the Pioneers' lead, scoring her third goal of the season on a penalty kick at the 64:24 mark.
The Golden Eagles struck back as Nicole Lyman scored in the top right corner of the net on a direct kick in the 81st minute. At the 89:21 mark, a WP defender knocked the ball into her own goal, tying the game. Neither team was able to score in the overtime periods.
Junior
Alyssa Falduto (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) saved two of the four shots that came her way. Kayla Flowers made seven saves for St. Joseph's-Long Island.
The Pioneers will travel to Oneonta, N.Y., to face Hartwick College in the Mayor's Cup Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 3:30 p.m.
