EWING, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team (2-9, 1-2 NJAC) suffered a 6-0 loss at No. 3 The College of New Jersey (8-0, 2-0 NJAC) Sept. 29.
Erin Waller and Caitlyn Jenkins gave the Lions a 2-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest, and Jenkins added another goal off a Christy Wham assist in the 26th minute. TCNJ then found the back of the cage three times during a nine-minute span in the second half, as Victoria Martin scored in the 51st minute and Jillian Nealon struck in the 52nd and 60th minutes.
Junior
Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) made five saves while playing the first 51:51 of the game, and freshman
Megan Davies (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) had two stops during the final 18:09. Junior
Brianne Cox (Browns Mills, N.J./Pemberton Twp.) posted three defensive saves and senior
Shannon Thomas (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) had one for the Pioneers. TCNJ goalie Roisin Dougherty saved five shots.
William Paterson will visit Misericordia Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 6:00 p.m.
