GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – A pair of first-half goals allowed host Gwynedd-Mercy (6-2) to get past William Paterson (2-7), 2-0, in field hockey action Sept. 22.
GM got on the board early at the 5:41 mark on a goal from junior Caitlin Donohue with an assist from junior Sarah Jackson. Jackson gave Gwynedd-Mercy momentum going into the break with a goal just seven seconds before halftime off a pass from classmate Maria Karidas.
The GM defense kept the Pioneers off the scoreboard despite the fact that William Paterson outshot the Griffins, 14-8, and held an 11-6 penalty -corner advantage.
Junior
Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) collected three saves for WP, and Kelly Kruk had eight for Gwynedd-Mercy. Junior
Annalis Mitcho (Glassboro, N.J./Gloucester County Institute of Technology) made a defensive save for WP.
William Paterson will host Drew Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7:00 p.m.
