WAYNE, N.J. – Senior
Ally Hartman (Pemberton, N.J./Pemberton Twp.) scored her second goal of the season, but the William Paterson field hockey (2-6, 1-1 NJAC) dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting No. 11 Montclair State (7-1, 2-0 NJAC) Sept. 19.
The Red Hawks took control early, scoring twice during the game's first 15 minutes. Sierra Rauchback connected on a Brooke Hullings pass at the left post in the fifth minute, and Kate Norgard made it a 2-0 score at the 14:01 mark when she tipped in a loose ball.
Hartman cut that advantage in half 25 minutes into the second half, blasting a
Felicia Wetzel (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) corner in to the back of cage from the top of the circle.
MSU finished the scoring when Rauchbach collected her second goal of the night, punching in a ball with 47 seconds remaining.
Junior
Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) made seven saves for WP, and Megan Bosland had two for the Red Hawks.
William Paterson will play at Gwynedd-Mercy Saturday, Sept. 22, at 3:00 p.m.
