LAFAYETTE, N.J. – William Paterson (2-0) began its 2012 spring golf schedule with a 310-345 victory against Purchase March 28 at the par-71, 6,060-yard Farmstead Golf Course. The 310 total marked the best team score for the second-year Pioneer program.
Senior
Shane Edwards (Newton, N.J./Newton) had the lowest round of the day with an even-par 71, followed by classmate
Matt Scozzari (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) with a 78 (+7).
Freshman
Rob Thomson (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) was third overall with a nine-over 80, followed closely by classmate
Erich Gentile (North Haledon, N.J./Paramus Catholic) with an 81 (+10).
Senior
Jim Bakelaar (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) carded an 85 (+14, seventh), and classmate
Paul Link (Wayne, N.J./Hazelton Area, Pa.) tallied a 15-over 86 to place eighth overall. Freshman
Matthew Santos (Newark, N.J./East Side) rounded out the group with a 100.
Ian Cumming and Zach Hummel paced Purchase with rounds of 82.
William Paterson will compete in the Moravian Spring Invitational Thursday, March 29, at 12:30 p.m. at Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville, Pa.
