BOX SCORE
CAMDEN, N.J. – A goal in the 83rd minute was the difference as the William Paterson men's soccer team (5-5-1, 3-2-1 NJAC) dropped a 1-0 decision at No. 18 Rutgers-Camden (10-2-1, 4-2 NJAC) Oct. 6.
In another hard-fought New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) defensive battle, neither team had many stellar offensive chances. Rutgers-Camden held a slim 7-6 edge in shots in the first half and a 15-9 advantage for the game, while also taking the only two corner kicks. It was Zak Piccoline's corner kick late in the game, however, that proved to be the difference as he sent the ball to the near post, where it was headed home by Casey Doyle.
WP goalkeeper
Santiago Mesa (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) stopped three shots, while Mike Randall had two saves for the Scarlet Raptors.
William Paterson will host The College of New Jersey Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 7:00 p.m.
