Jessica Nendze (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) scored twice as the William Paterson field hockey team (6-10) shut out visiting DeSales (3-12), 4-0, Oct. 18.
In the 13th minute, Nendze connected with a pass from senior midfielder
Ally Hartman (Pemberton, N.J./Pemberton Twp.) to put the Pioneers on the board.
Nendze struck again at the 15:16 mark, finding a pass from senior midfielder
Jaclyn Bertos (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) and blasting a shot from the left side.
The Pioneers continued their scoring 10 minutes into the second half, as junior forward
Brianne Cox (Browns Mills, N.J./Pemberton Twp.) scored off a corner on a pass from freshman back
Jamie Miller (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional).
Freshman midfielder
McKenna Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) poked the ball into the cage from the left side off a corner in the 70th minute.
Junior
Kellye Statze (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) made four saves to earn the shutout for the Pioneers. Senior Victoria DelToro stopped four shots for the Bulldogs.
William Paterson will travel to Susquehanna University on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 1:00 p.m.
