BOX SCORE
MADISON, N.J. – Senior forward
Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) became the Pioneers' single-season goals leader, scoring both markers in a 2-1 double-overtime William Paterson women's soccer (7-7-2) victory at Drew (6-7-2) Oct. 17.
It was Marabondo who broke the scoreless deadlock, receiving a ball from classmate
Erika Juricic (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) and cutting to the middle before drilling a ball into the back of the net 6:30 into the contest. It was Marabondo's 20th goal of the year, breaking the previous record of 19 established by Amanda Kurdyla in 2007, and increased Marabondo's single-season points record total to 46.
The Rangers scored the equalizer less than five minutes before halftime when Liz Lolodice knocked in a deflection in the box.
Marabondo then provided her fifth game winner of the year just 93 seconds before the end of the second overtime period, jumping on a turnover and beating Drew keeper Kim Jaikisson 1v1.
Juniors
Mary Jane Seiler (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) and
Alyssa Falduto (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) each made two saves for the Pioneers, and Jaikisson had eight for Drew.
William Paterson will play at Rutgers-Newark Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m.
