WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team (5-10, 3-2 NJAC) shut out visiting Ramapo (3-7, 1-3 NJAC), 3-0, Oct. 12, and clinched a spot in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament.

Jaclyn Bertos (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) put the Pioneers on the board in the 10th minute off a
Brianne Cox (Browns Mills, N.J./Pemberton Twp.) pass in front of the cage.
NJAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Week
Felicia Wetzel (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) continued her impressive play when she scored on a shot from the right side at the 21 minute mark.
In the 41st minute, Wetzel found Cox in front of the cage to put the Pioneers up 3-0.
Ramapo had its best scoring opportunity when they were awarded a penalty stroke with less than three minutes remaining in the game. Junior
Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) made a fully extended dive to her right to stop the shot.
Statz needed only three saves to earn the shutout for the Pioneers. Rebecca Elliott had two stops for Ramapo.
William Paterson will host DeSales Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7:00 p.m.
