BOX SCORE
HOBOKEN, N.J. – Freshman
Felicia Wetzel (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) scored her third goal in a three-game span, but the William Paterson field hockey team (4-10) dropped a 3-1 decision at Stevens (9-5) Oct. 10.
The Ducks broke through in the 25th minute when Dailyn Brook tapped in a Marguerite Chavez cross at the post. Megan Traub gave host Stevens a 2-0 edge in the 49th minute, receiving a pass back after inserting a penalty corner and knocking the ball into the back of the cage.
Wetzel sliced that lead in half at the 58:38 mark. With the ball loose inside the circle, freshman
Angelica Giammetta (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) was able to get it to Wetzel, who collected her eighth point in three games (3 g, 2 a).
Mary Nikish's rebound goal handed Stevens some breathing room, making it a 3-1 contest in the 63rd minute.
Junior
Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) made 18 saves in goal for the Pioneers, and senior
Kelsey Rella (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) contributed a defensive save. Stevens' Kaitlin McClymont had three stops for the Ducks.
William Paterson will host Ramapo for a conference clash Friday, Oct. 12, at 7:00 p.m.
