WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (1-7) fell to visiting Gwynedd-Mercy (6-3), 3-0, in a non-conference field hockey contest Sept. 25.

Gwynedd-Mercy's sophomore forward Maria Karidas slid in behind the defense and finished a pass by classmate Brooke Stretch with 15:52 on the clock in the first half to score the first goal of the contest.  Karidas deflected a Stretch shot ,scoring her second goal of the day, with 7:35 left on the clock.  Senior Casey Dellostretto laced a shot from the front of the goal that found the back of the cage, giving Gwynedd-Mercy a 3-0 advantage with 6:29 left to play in the first half.

Senior Meghan Trivett (Highlands, N.J./Middletown North) recorded 10 saves on 18 shots.  Gwynedd-Mercy's Kelly Kruk registered thee saves on seven shots.

The Pioneers will host Richard Stockton Friday, Sept. 30, at 7:00 p.m.
