MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The No. 12 William Paterson men's soccer team (7-1-1, 1-1 NJAC) suffered its first loss with a 3-0 defeat at Montclair State (5-1-2, 1-0-1 NJAC) Sept. 21.
After a half of scoreless play, Montclair State took the advantage in the 64th minute. Senior Sean Pauls' throw from the left side found freshman Maxx Wurzburger, whose bicycle kick from 10 yards out found the back of the net, giving the Red Hawks a 1-0 advantage. Montclair State struck again four minutes later when sophomore Dan Mendoza punched a ball inside the left post. Mendoza's pass from the right side found the foot of freshman Pablo Zegarra, who knocked in the third goal of the game, ducking the ball just inside the left post.
Senior
Zach Collins (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) registered seven saves for the Pioneers. Junior Anthony Rogic had three saves for Montclair State, his third shutout of the year.
William Paterson will celebrate Homecoming against Richard Stockton Saturday, Sept. 24, at 6:00 p.m.
