BOX SCORE

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (2-6) twice took a lead, but host NYU (8-3) rallied for a 3-2 victory Oct. 4.

Junior forward Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) put the Pioneers on the scoreboard in the 37th minute, one-touching an Ashley Grabowski (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) free kick past NYU keeper Meg Patten.

The Violets evened the contest 30 minutes later, capitalizing on a WP turnover when Cami Crawford intercepted a pass and scored to the lower left post.  Senior Megan Droelle (Hampton, N.J./North Hunterdon) once again gave William Paterson the lead, knocking in a low cross from Erika Juricic (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) four minutes later.

NYU tied the score for a second time after Megan Young blasted a shot off the underside of the crossbar in the 79th minute.  The Violets netted the game winner with 8:34 remaining thanks to Phebe Miller winning a loose ball in the box and knocking it in.

Sophomore Alyssa Falduto (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) made eight saves for WP, and Patten had four for NYU.

William Paterson will host No. 13 The College of New Jersey Saturday, Oct. 8, at 6:00 p.m.
